Brave Girls: Raising Young Women With Passion and Purpose To Become Powerful Leaders

Have you ever wondered if it's different raising girls from boys? Are you wondering what's the best way to raise your daughter? With everything that's been in the news lately about women who feel they have to be docile when meeting with men or the fact that women are STILL paid less for doing the SAME job as men we definitely owe this book a read.

I was always taught growing up to be fearless and that I could do anything in the world that I put my mind to. My mother and Aunts were great role models and they instilled in me truths that I still refer to to this day. My outlook on life was positive and upbeat. Sadly NOT every girl is raised with the confidence and strong family support I received as child. Because parenting styles are as different as the many parents we have on Earth, I place no judgements on anyone's parenting style.

I do feel some girls are growing up are at a disservice and every parent raising a girl in this world would benefit by reading this book. Don't get me wrong, I know it takes more than a book to raise a successful, well-rounded and happy adult, but this book serves as a great tool. One that wasn't available when I was raising my children. I agreed with so many principles of the book especially, the importance of building confidence in our girls. It's not done overnight, but once it is instilled in her it last FOREVER......

About the Author
Dr. Stacey Radin Psy,D.
Stacey Radin is a psychologist, researcher, and consultant who has dedicated her career to the development of girls and women. She is the founder and president of Corporate Equilibrium, specializing in the psychology of organizational effectiveness, and a member of the United Nation’s Working Group on Girls.

The Book:
After interviewing hundreds of high-achieving businesswomen, Dr. Radin discovered that even the country's most accomplished female professionals were often hampered by insecurity and afraid of being considered too aggressive in a business world run largely by men. She is dedicated to uncovering the inherent strengths, value, and skills of young girls.

Dr. Radin's research with these women proved that these harmful thoughts are formed in middle school, when identity development is at its peak. Even as responsible adults, women still faced the confining and outdated gender norm of the "nice little girl." To weaken the power of this limiting message, Dr. Radin founded Unleashed, an after-school program that introduces pre-teen girls to an important social cause—animal rescue—and gives them a passion, a key element in being engaged and successful in both the workplace and in life.

While the girls create solutions to the task of rescuing neglected and abused dogs, they learn compassion and resilience, how to interact with peers with empathy and respect, and develop resourcefulness and critical thinking skills.

Dr. Radin is dedicated to changing our world one girl at-a-time. Think about it, a new world in which women are confident and empowered and able to play on an even playing field. Isn't this a world you would love to live in? so would I! This book would make a great gift or sticking stuffer to anxious parents new and old on your list!
