I'm sure we've all had our own experience with choking or near choking incidents. One thing I'm sure we can agree on is, choking "is scary". Not being able to breathe freely, knowing something is lodged in your throat, windpipe or esophagus is extremely scary and can be dangerous, even fatal. A few years ago my aunt was eating some fruit and choked on an orange slice. Luckily we were all there visiting and someone was able to administer the Heimlich Maneuver and dislodge the food. She also required a feeding tube six months later because she was so afraid of choking again that she literally stopped eating food by mouth.
